The Bharanickavu Service Co-operative Bank (SCB) is launching a transformative project that integrates value addition, agricultural nursery,
and custom hiring services, with a specialfocus on Onattukara Ellu (GI tagged). Onattukara, a historically rich agricultural region in Kerala,
is renowned for producing high-quality sesame, an essential ingredient in varioustraditional and modern food products. Recognizing the importance of this crop, the bank aims to enhance its value by developing a value-addition unit under the brand Bharani Food Products,which will process Onattukara Ellu into market-ready items, contributing to its long-termsustainability and profitability.
VALUE ADDITION
To establish a value addition unit under Bharani Food Products focused on processing Onattukara Ellu and other locally sourced food products to create high-quality, marketable items. To boost the profitability of farmers by enhancing the market value of traditional crops through modern processing techniques.
AGRICULTURAL NURSERY
To provide high-quality coconut saplings, horticultural plants, ornamental plants, and indoor plants to farmers, encouraging sustainable agricultural practices. To promote plant diversity and crop health through the nursery’s offerings.
CUSTOM HIRING CENTRE
To offer a custom hiring service for farming equipment and machinery, making advanced agricultural tools accessible to small and marginal farmers at affordable rates. To improve farming efficiency and productivity by reducing the operational costs for farmers.
SUPPLY CHAIN EFFICIENCY
To implement IT-based systems through the CITA model for streamlined supply chain management,ensuring transparency, traceability, and efficiency in production, processing, and distribution.
